How to choose your next coffee

If you like a clean, bright cup, start with coffees grown at higher altitude and processed for clarity. If you prefer something rounder and heavier in the cup, look at coffees with more chocolate, nut or caramel notes. The best way to choose is by flavour first, then by how you brew at home or in the office.

We roast for filter, stovetop, plunger and espresso, so the same origin can show different sides depending on how you prepare it. A lighter roast will often give you more fruit and floral detail, while a more developed roast can bring out sweetness and body. If you are unsure, pick by tasting notes and grind it to suit your method, then adjust from there.

What makes each origin different

No two coffees taste the same because growing conditions change from farm to farm and season to season. Soil, rainfall, picking standards and drying method all shape the final cup, which is why we keep our range focused on single origins rather than blends. It gives you a clearer view of what each region can do.

Some lots come with berry sweetness and citrus lift, while others bring cocoa, spice or stone fruit. Processing has a big part to play too. Washed coffees usually taste cleaner and more defined, natural coffees can be more fruit-forward, and honey processed lots often sit somewhere in between. That balance is what makes the range interesting from one bag to the next.

Roasted in Woodstock for South African homes and offices

All coffee is roasted in Woodstock, Cape Town, then packed for delivery to homes and offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Gqeberha. We roast in smaller batches so the coffee stays fresh and the profile stays consistent from one delivery to the next. That matters when you are ordering for a house, a boardroom or a shared kitchen.

We also keep practical things in mind like grind consistency during load-shedding, storage in warmer inland offices, and the effect of coastal humidity on beans left open for too long. Fresh coffee still needs a dry, cool cupboard and a sealed container, especially along the coast. Small habits like that keep the cup tasting right all week.

Different roast styles for different brew methods

Each origin is roasted with its brew method in mind, not just its country of origin. Filter coffee needs clarity and structure, espresso needs enough sweetness and depth to stand up in milk or as a short shot. That is why one coffee can work beautifully in a plunger and still feel quite different in a moka pot or espresso machine.

If you enjoy experimenting, try the same coffee at two grind settings and notice how it changes. A finer grind can bring more body and a firmer finish, while a coarser grind can open the fruit and clean up the finish. Keep a note of what you enjoy, because good coffee is easier to repeat once you know what you are after.

Picking coffee for the office

For offices, consistency matters as much as flavour. We help teams choose coffees that are easy to serve, hold up well in milk and suit the pace of daily use. If your staff likes a gentle cup for meetings, we can steer you toward softer profiles. If the team prefers a stronger brew, we can recommend coffees with a deeper roast and more body.

Our subscription and supply options can be matched to your usage, so you are not left short halfway through the month. We also support stock forecasting for office teams that need to plan around leave periods, busy seasons and public holidays. It keeps the coffee cupboard sorted without over-ordering.

Fresh coffee, plain advice, no guesswork

We keep the offering straightforward so you can choose with confidence. If you know your preferred flavour profile, use that as your guide. If you are still exploring, start with a balanced origin and move toward brighter or richer coffees from there. There is no need to overcomplicate it.

For help choosing, clients can reach us through the enquiry form on our contact page and we will point them toward the right coffee for their setup. Whether you are brewing at home in the Southern Suburbs, serving staff in the CBD or running a small hospitality service on the Atlantic Seaboard, we can match the coffee to the task. And if you change your mind later, that is fine too, coffee preferences shift all the time.

Questions we get asked

What is the difference between your single-origin coffees and blends?

Single-origin coffees come from one farm, estate or region, so the flavour is easier to trace. Blends combine coffees to create a specific house profile, while our range focuses on the character of each origin.

Which coffee should I choose for espresso?

Choose a coffee with enough sweetness and body to hold its shape in espresso. Medium to fuller roasts often work well, especially if you drink it with milk, but the best choice depends on whether you prefer fruit, chocolate or nutty notes.

Do you deliver coffee outside Cape Town?

Yes. We deliver across South Africa, including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Gqeberha, with regular supply for homes and offices.
